Documentation is wonderful. Without it, we'd be forgetting a lot of things and important stuff. Sometimes the most important and special documentation we get is from the other people in our lives.
I think that we all record everything in our lives differently, whether it's a hand print on your heart or a typed up sheet of paper, we all find some way to remember the important milestones in our life. It's interesting to think about how people hundreds of years ago recorded history without photos, newspapers, and such. Granted they had artists who created paintings, but it's not the same as photography.
Maybe pencil and paper isn't always the best way to document everything. Our friends have their own way of leaving their own marks on our lives. It may not be in all of the birthday cards, group projects, or text messages...but it's the way that they shape us into better people. Leaving us with smiles on our faces and great memories that have taught us so many important things. To me, the best documentation is when someone leaves you changed, because it's something that everyone can see and it has helped you in a different way than it has with someone else.
Many people come and go in your life. You have scrapbooks, videos, and other memorabilia...but I think the best documentation of them being in your life is the memories they left with you, and the handprints on your heart that have changed you to the person that you are today.
