As part of being human, we have a conscience and feelings. Some people listen to the voices inside of their head more than others and feelings come and go over time. We all interpret things differently and attach ourselves in a unique way to people and moments that sometimes mean nothing. Why? I'm not quite sure of that answer still. I think that we stick close to important things like that because it's something that makes us smile for a little bit. After a long week of dealing with people at work and school, listening to the news and the problems of the world, and everything else...it's nice to be able to look to something that can make you happy. Some people may think that clinging to things for too long can be stupid, but maybe it's the only thing that keeps us from falling apart.
Welcome to my blog! "It's raining cats and dogs!" I'm pretty sure that at one time or another in our lives we've either heard or recited that phrase. Sarcasm plays a large role in each of our lives, yet there's not a lot of ways to truly see it. Especially with the internet now days. Everyone keeps saying that we need a sarcasm font. I firmly believe that there already is one...it's the one I'm using now, the one you used in your last email, and the one that your friend used in that text message your just received. Everything can be sarcastic, but what makes it sarcastic is the body language and emphasis on the right words at the right times. Yet we still have trouble recognizing it! It's not that we're dumb. We're all smart...just, in our own ways. I think that the problem is that we are all way too serious anymore. The world has driven us to be so competitive and stoic that we've lost a lot of our humor. The people that have managed to keep their cool and crack jokes surely make me smile. We definitely need more of them around.

There are many different directions in which to lead your life. It's choosing the right one that becomes awfully difficult. There are so many other choices in life that we need to make that it becomes hard to prioritize them all. We wish all the time for things to be easier, for decisions to come to us faster and without pain, alas...they don't. Things are never quite as they seem, it might just be too good to be true. There are a lot of people in this world that sit around and wait for the world to change. They expect other people to do everything for them and give everything to them. While many will just disregard that fact, to others, it's a whole other matter that strikes a deeper chord. The people who've worked the hardest to get to where they are want other people to have the same work ethic, drive, and attitudes as them. No one in this world is treated equally. We like to think it because it's a basis for American culture yet when you peel back the sugar coating you find that there's discrimination everywhere...everyone and everything has to fight to be liked the best.
In order to fight against this, we try to make our individuality show. People only get chosen in this world today based on how much money they have, where they come from, and how they look. It's not what you know, it's who you know. While this is all irking stuff (you're welcome Grandma), I don't necessarily see it as all bad. Lots of people in this world, including me, have never been handed anything on a silver platter. We have ended up having to work for something that's important to us in order to get where we are today. Then there's the person who knows the president of the company and gets hired for the position above you. It makes you want to slam your head against a wall. Never fear...that's why you make lots of friends and don't burn bridges. Although, some people learn that tip a little too late I think. It comes time to tap into your "resources" and there's not a lot of people to turn to that will get you very far.
Because of this, I have learned to become very observant. I watch and learn quite easily and hardly ever make the same mistake twice because of it. There are a lot of people in the world that know what they're doing because they've had experience with it and have had to work hard to learn what they have. The people that come in fresh and get ahead fast don't always know what they're doing, but they sure had their connections. In order to go up against this, we make ourselves as unique as possible. We get out into the world and make our name known...try everything that we can to catch someone's attention. Granted it's a lot of work, but I think it pays off rather nicely in the end. While this doesn't work all the time, I think it's something good to practice regardless. Without individuality, you blend into the normal, boring lull of life's everyday routines. I sure don't want to end up being just another face in the crowd...I want to be the person that someone can point out of the crowd and remember for a long time. Just being noticed makes the difference.
Because we're all different, we're also discriminated against. Just because we don't get all our clothes at full price from the hottest clothing stores at the mall doesn't mean that we're not cool. Just because we don't work out at the gym and all look like the movie stars doesn't mean that we're not beautiful. And just because we come from small town Nebraska doesn't mean that we'll never be cut out for living in the city working as President of a successful company. Anything is possible if you just set your mind to it and have some hope. Even if the world isn't going to be fair to you, it's sure fun and one heck of a ride to look it right in the eyes and accept the challenge.

There are many rules in life, whether or not we choose to follow them is up to us. Rules are mainly guidelines. You can't always expect everyone to do exactly as you say all of the time...that's completely irrational. The best that we can do is hope that somewhere along the line, someone will listen. I think this is why, most of the time, we end up doing things ourselves. We know that the job will be done right because we'll listen to all of the specifications that we would like to have followed in completing a certain task. The minute that we let someone else in on the job, things start to get jumbled and directions forgotten and lost in the chaos of things.
With all of the many changes and rules that we have in this world today, it's hard to keep track of them all. We tend to think of them more as guidelines because the second that someone tells us not to do something, we want to do it to prove them wrong. It's just our natural instinct. Thinking of the rules as guidelines is so much easier because then we don't feel as bad if we break them. We believe that it's in our best interest to follow the rules, but then think about how we each have to choose a way to live our own lives. We can either sit back and do nothing or take every moment for what it is and live on the edge.

There are many people in this world who hide from the truth because they're scared of it. But what does that solve? Not much. Real people are able to take the criticism of their mistakes, listen to the horrible things that people will say in the course of their lives, and be able to sit and hear the many truths about things that we might not wish to always hear. The most difficult things to hear would be the truths about people that we're close to and that we love. We hold them closest to our hearts, and we set them upon a pedestal in our minds...thinking that they can do nothing wrong. Yet everyone in life has their secrets and their surprises. You just never know what you're going to get or how to react. You will never be told something at the right moment either...it's our priority to be able to just be able to accept things for what they are, knowing that we can't change them, and move on to something better to hope for change.

For a good portion, if not all, of our life, we look for people who can stand up to the test of time. To find true friends to last forever and to find someone who can stay with you for every step of your life until the end comes. There are many people that we'll come across that simply won't be able to measure up to our expectations. Even though we might not think that we should, it's good to just let them go. In the moment we might not really understand the big picture, which makes it even harder to make certain decisions. We just have to be able to trust that things will work out okay.
Time has an interesting way of testing us all. We never know exactly how to pass each test, which is why many people come and go in our lives. It might not always be our fault, but I believe that everything must happen for a reason. In order to see the bigger picture of life, we must first detach ourselves from all things that are of importance to us...which is nearly impossible for most people. I think this is why we find people who're "blinded by love", "led astray", or left to depression or suicide. They can't stand the thought of maybe living alone, losing someone tremendously important, or even having to make a serious decision. Many of these thoughts will remain a mystery to us all...left for us to guess at. I think that while we like to be able to see everything up close, it's healthy to try to zoom out for a little while.
The bigger picture, while good to be able to see, can be confusing for us. It's like reading the end of the book after only reading Chapter 1. There are characters and settings that you never imagined; however, we read the last pages because we want to know whether the books turns out the way we want it to...happily ever after.

We are all connected to every single person in this world, yet I don't think we bother to think about how or why. The lives we lead become so intertwined with everyone else's that it gets hard to say that you don't have any friends or have any special connections. I've heard we're all connected to everyone in the entire world by at least "6 degrees" (or 6 friendships, as I look at it). It seems crazy, but as I look into it, it becomes more true. The people I hear about in the news, see walking down the street...someone I know, knows them or knows someone who knows another person that knows them and so on. It can become confusing, but it's fun to figure out how everyone is somehow connected in this large, yet very small world. Shouldn't we then think more about others instead of always thinking just about ourselves? Maybe we could help each other out by doing so.
No wonder family lineage is shown on a tree. There become so many different branches and appendages that continue to grow on it that it seems that it will never end. Because of this, it seems that you would be related to everyone in the entire world too. Maybe in some respect we are all related. Either way, making friends is a fast and efficient way to make your "family" tree become a tree of connections and friendships. Without friendships, there's no way that we would be able to experience the world in the way that we do now. Friends are the people that you share little snippets of your life with and create memorable moments with. They're the family that you choose for yourself. Because we have so many friends, we're included on their "family" tree. It cuts down the number of separations between you and your new favorite movie star. It's strange to think that someone so popular and widely known can be so close to you.
Whether we like it or not, we're all connected in one way or another. There is so much hatred in this world because of the little things, but I think that there should be more understanding and acceptance. Without that, how do we expect to be treated the same in return? Lots of people in this world don't realize that...as frustrating as that is. All that we are able to do is be with the people that we love and keep our "family" tree growing so that we can live our own lives in the way that we want so that we can be happy. When all is said and done, it won't matter what job you had, who you dated, the places that you went to or anything. The only people that will really know the true story of your life will be you; although, it's fun to have many friends that share the experiences and memories with you so that other people can share the laughter and friendship. There's plenty of that to go around to everyone because we already all have each other. That's something that everyone can start with and grow from.

Nothing in life comes easy...welcome to the real world. It's often difficult for us to grasp the fact that almost everything in life will be handed to someone else on a silver platter while we watch. It drives us all to be better than the next person. It makes us want to do something so great that no one will outshine us. Then when we're faced with our worst fears, we can come out on top with confidence. I think that we are able to find out more about not only ourselves, but the people around us when we're put through tough situations. We see who our friends really are, which ones stick around and help and which ones seemingly disappear and become people you never thought that they could become. It's these moments in life that I don't ever want to be seen as the person who is lost and disappears from someone else. I want to be able to be there for every single person that means something in my life. They all mean so much to me.
It's not very often that we come across people who are truly genuine. But when we find people that are, it's easy to accept them and painstakingly hard to let them go. I find that this statement is only true if these people truly matter in your life. You wouldn't be able to imagine life without them and then save you in situations where you need the most help. So for life to become a little easier for everyone, I think that we should all take a good look at who we spend the most time with, who we spend the least time with, and those who we spend no time with at all. It's those people that are hidden that are most likely the most important to us and will change us in a way that nothing and no one else could ever imagine trying to do.

What makes something beautiful isn't always what you see, it can be something much deeper than that. Everything in life starts out small and grows into a bigger miracle. Many people in this world take what they see and often leave it. They don't take a few moments to try and sift through the rough patches, the faults, and everything else to get to what's true. The most important things in life are what is true, beautiful, and everlasting. There's not very many things that are all three. We all have our own preferences as to what we think is beautiful, seemingly so that everyone and everything in this world will have a chance at one time or another. How perfect everything seems to be when the world is sometimes in chaos.
While not everything will be something worthwhile in your eyes, it's not always a bad idea to try to find something good in everything. Wouldn't you like it if everyone gave you an equal chance? It would probably be better for the world if we all knew that more people cared about us, sincerely. One of the main issues of this world is the lack of love. It might sound like I'm trying to bring back peace and love, but if you think about it...it's true. Think about how many people wouldn't be depressed, how many that wouldn't commit suicide. The world would gradually become a little lighter and more bearable. We just have to be able to give each other the right amount of love and attention to bloom into something beautiful.

Rainy days tend to bring people down...make us tired and feel empty. Somehow though, dancing in the rain makes some people happy. I wonder why. As much as I love rain showers and storms, there's something about it that just reminds me of my shower at home. Suddenly, people reading this start to then wonder about my thought processes. Not to worry, it's just a thought that came about from the similarity of the two items. It's delightful that one can find so much joy in something so simple, yet it's gloomy enough to depress. I think that we often have a hard time seeing the greater picture of things and what they mean for us. If we stop to stroll in the rain a while, maybe the cold drops will wake us up from the dream and present us with a better reality.

I heard a quote once that says, "We make a living by what we earn. We make a life by what we give." I think this is really quite accurate. Many people are so focused on money, the material things that are able to be owned, and short-term items that have no real significance. These types of things are hardly permanent...only temporary.
Yet, I don't think that the majority of the world understands this simple fact. In order to be happier, longer, it would make sense to enjoy the little things in the moment, but take with you the important things that will last a lifetime.
What is truly important to someone is different for everyone. While we all have different tastes, I think that there would be certain things that we would all agree on classifying as important. There are many things that I hold dear to my heart that someone else looks upon as insignificant and stupid. The key to holding onto these things would be to just block out the nay-sayers and know that what you're doing is right. In the end, it will not matter how much money you've earned, how many cars, barbies, or boyfriends/girlfriends you've had...it will matter what you've done for the people around you and the world that you live in. It's a place that's worth changing filled with people that are constantly adapting. Give them something to look upon that will make them realize how much money and material things don't matter.

There are many things in each of our lives that are worth crying over and being upset about, but if we look around for a few moments, we realize that there are plenty of other things around us that are in need of a smile. I'm sure that we've all heard the saying "For every moment that we spend unhappy, is a moment of happiness that we will never get back." While we should always walk around and look like Barbie, I think it's better to try and smile as often as you can, to hide and block out all the negativity around you.
Some people in this world are good at masking emotions. They make it nearly impossible to tell if they're having a bad day or not. I somewhat admire these types of people because I have no wall to hide my feelings and emotions when I have a low day. Even when the world is turned upside down, the people that are able to pull it together with a smile on their face are the ones who know what they're going for in life and know what they can take. They know that to get to what they want, they'll have to remain positive and always be looking for the brighter side of things.
I think that the easiest way to have less of the down moments in life is to find something special and important to you, and look to it when times get slow and tough. Something to look forward to when hope is gone and you get discouraged. No matter how bad things get though, there's always something better waiting for you in tomorrow. Things almost always get worse before they get better...sounds strange, but it's true. It's just how the strange order of life goes.

Everyone needs a little bit of luck in order to feel more positive about stressful things. I think that luck isn't something that you need, you already have a little bit with you whether you know it or not. That's the most extraordinary thing about it...it's secretive and hidden until the moment that you need it; although, it sometimes seems like we get luck in moments where we least need it. At other times, it's reverse luck: karma.
Karma is a funny thing, yet it's only funny in one direction. We wish all the bad luck on those that we dislike the most, hoping that one day luck won't be in their favor...then we go to so many precautions to preserve our luck. Maybe it's just superstitious of us to hold horse-shoes upright, step over the cracks in the sidewalk, and walk around ladders instead of under them. We all try so hard to keep luck on our side, hoping that someday it will come in handy when we need it the most; yet that's hardly ever the case. Instead, luck is something that just makes you feel more confident about life in general so you have less fear. That's the true beauty of it's "magic."

Life is more exciting if you do things "just because." Without spontaneity, I would imagine that life could get pretty boring. I find that the people who are more apt to try something new and crazy everyday will lead more exciting and eventful lives than those who like to stay on the same path as they always do. One of the many beautiful things in life is getting to do something different every single day. If variety is indeed the spice of life, then why are so many people caught up in doing the same things every single day? There are so many different and exciting things to do in life, it's hard to be able to complete them all. It seems like we have forever to do anything that we wish, but alas...time is passing quickly and all good things must come to and end.
So I believe that we should be doing the things that we love the most with the people that we love the most. That way, when we look back on our lives when we're old and grey someday, we will have little regrets and lots of smiles to remember. The most important and memorable moments of life are the ones that your'e spending with the most important people. I think Winnie the Pooh says it best, "If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together...there is something you must always remember: You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...I'll always be with you."

Everything in life happens for a reason. We are never truly able to see the reasoning behind it, but we just have to trust that in time, things will turn out for the better. Many people curse at the wind for the smallest things, but they don't stop to breathe and realize that it was probably a change for the better in their life. We're all not fond of change, I don't think that it's as bad as many people think it is. We just have to have an open mind and an open heart in order to accept these things.
Some people have more luck in life than others. I think that's just fine. We all live in our own world of four-leaf clovers and pots of gold at the end of rainbows. Always wishing for a better tomorrow and for things to change for the better or in our favor. Sometimes we must be careful what we wish for, because we might end up getting it all, and that's always more than we bargained for.

We are never truly able to know everything about those that are closest to us. As much as we dislike that thought, it's all too true. We want to be able to protect those that are closest to us, yet when it comes to hearing the truth, it's not always easy to take in. There comes a time in everyone's life where you have to just learn to accept what is true and deal with the consequences of that. The problem that many of us are plagued with is that we like things to go the way that we have them always planned out in our heads. We like to think the best of people and hope that in the world, there's a true goodness to it. Not that I'm saying that the world is a terrible place, it's just that there are many times where it's hard to find the good and be able to keep your head up. When we're confronted with the truth, it can often make finding the way out of the maze more difficult. We're faced with new obstacles and ideas that had never occurred to us before.
The truth isn't always some omen to be feared however...it can be a sign of hope as well. An indication that there is still something left to be looked upon as lucky and forthcoming. More often than not we find people that come and go, then come back to us again. We are all made up of gaps. We help to hold each other together. When we lose someone, we end up losing a small part of ourself with them. If we are to meet again, we are never the same two people. Not able to know what has happened in the time that has passed or able to relate feelings and laughter.
Somehow though, we're able to know everything. We read books and watch movies in which the main character is able to figure everything out just by reasoning for a while. Maybe if the days were longer and we had more free time, we could be able to do the same. I think that life is more exciting with the mysterious edge to it...the aspect that just screams "I will forever remain unknown!" It's what we all strive to know and what we all are so easily able to forget.

The feeling of disappointment isn't looked upon kindly. Though I'm finding that more and more people dish it out regularly. Many people always expect others to cater to their every need and to uphold their expectations. I think that we should all be more understanding and be able to be independent. This world would've made no advancements if we all relied on others to do the work; because if we all are always relying on other people, then who're the ones that are actually making a difference? In that sense, no one would be. While we can't make the people of the world always understand this, it would be nice to live in our own "bubble" of thoughts and ideas so that we can strive for our best and not have to worry about the rest of the crazy people that run and live in this world.
Many people in this world are always trying to reach perfection, but are never quite able to achieve it. There are so many ways to try to go about something in order to do it right. We think that the more help we get, the longer we try, or the more times that we try that we'll be able to be better at something. "Practice makes perfect"...right? Although I believe that we can come close to doing something perfectly, I don't think that we're ever able to reach it. If perfection is always able to be achieved, then why would there be a point in practicing a sport, rehearsing for band, or even imagination? There would be a smaller allotment of space for error, which I think is a violation of our right as a human being.
Instead, I think that we're forced to keep many things that we wish to pursue a secret...locked away from the world because we don't want our hopes of it's achievement to be spoiled. Ideas in this day and age are so easily stolen and corrupted into something different. In a world where everything is difficult to deal with and compete against, it's seemingly easy to make something simple, perfect. We therefore keep things more confidential, in hopes that when no one is looking, we can work our own little magic to make the things that we love the most perfect in our own eyes.

One of the many pleasures in life is knowing that you're appreciated. It's nice to hear kind words about something that you do, whether it's said to your face or passed through to you from friend to friend. Words like that are never forgotten. The people that say them are always remembered for being a kind person. It seems as though there's less and less of those type around anymore, but I assure you that there are still many out there somewhere...you just have be able to go and find them.
Today, I was told that a blog post reminded this special person of this poem. I thought it would only be fair to share it...

The Laughing Heart
Your life is your life,
Don't let it be clubbed into dank submission.
Be on watch.
There are ways out.
There is a light somewhere.
It may not be much light, but
It beats the darkness.
Be on the watch.
The Gods will offer you chances.
Know them.
Take them.
You can't beat death, but
You can beat death in life, sometimes.
And the more often you learn to do it,
The more light there will be.
Your life is your life.
Know it while you have it.
You are marvelous.
The Gods wait to delight in you.

Sometimes at night when I lay in my bed I find it difficult to fall asleep. Counting sheep isn't always enough for me. I get bored after a while. Instead, my mind chooses to wander and stretch things far from reality. Not only can dreams be fabricated about the most strange things but shadows can be interpreted as so many interesting and scary things.
I really hope that I'm not the only one that hides completely under the covers, makes sure that no limb is hanging over the edge of the bed, and hops into bed from a few feet away just to make sure that there isn't anything under my bed. While I know that this is completely childish, I like to believe that there's no harm in just making sure. The dark shadows that span across the walls and floor of my room aren't exactly pleasant in my imagination either. The sheep in my mind start running for the hills. Then there's the dreams that start when my eyelids finally become heavy enough to fall...mostly pleasant and laughable, there are always bound to be a few questionable ones. I always wonder what they're really meant to mean. What's going on in my head?! I certainly have never thought up scenarios during the day that my imagination comes up with at night. Perhaps, we don't truly understand our deepest secrets, desires, or thoughts until the magic of sleep has to coax it out of it's hiding places.

Feeling trapped. Something I think we all fear. The idea isn't as scary as the state; although, circumstances can change in an instant. I often wonder how truly protective we are of ourselves. Checking to make sure that we're doing what's best for ourselves...not what's best for our friends, family, and the rest of the people around us. I know that it's very difficult for me to think of doing things for myself rather than for other people. Some people would find doing things for themselves easy. I come across people everyday that do nothing but things to make themselves happy. It's somewhat aggravating...that a person can completely not care about the next. Show no compassion to help others in this world. Maybe the realization that we're all on the same ship hasn't sunk in yet? But will it ever? It's a mystery, I'll probably never know.
We are all so fragile. So easily broken yet all easily built up. It's hard to say that we're all the same when it comes to finding the cracks and escapes of life. There aren't many. We often find things that are small. Like vacations...they only last for a short amount of time. Then we're returned to the rut of everyday life, to continue our normal routine. There are few of us though that continue to search for the ultimate escape of being trapped by reality...and only a sparse number of us are able to grasp it.

I love your touch, your smile, your eyes,
I feel so safe, protected from all of life's lies.
Yet at twilight they will always know,
The stars for you, will forever glow.
I may not be there to see them burn,
You've given so many others a much longer turn,
I love your touch, your smile, your eyes,
I feel so safe, protected from all of life's lies.
Yet at twilight they will always know,
The stars for you, will forever glow.
I may not be there to see them burn,
You've given so many others a much longer turn,
When my world is empty and full of doubt,
You pull me in and reassure me, pulling me out.
Your smile is so sweet; never once a fake grin,
With your eyes wide open...waiting for your life to begin.
How much I miss those carefree days,
When no one bothered and we just let the music play.
Your smile is so sweet; never once a fake grin,
With your eyes wide open...waiting for your life to begin.
How much I miss those carefree days,
When no one bothered and we just let the music play.
I long for the days when things were so simple,
I would smile, you rub your fingers over my dimples.
The times when our laughs were the music of the wind,
My hope of regaining those, has been slowly thinned.
These wonderful days are now too far gone,
And I'm finding now, that the only words to help me are those buried in song.

Tie us together and help me understand,
Keep people close, tight like a rubber band.
When it all falls apart, to where do we turn?
To somewhere safe, where we're agreed with, not burned.
We never really know how truly lucky we have it,
'Til we see all the differences, the places that are full of havoc.
Whom do we trust with our lives and our secrets?
We lie awake at night, tossing and turning...nothing but sleepless.
It's good to know that in the hardest of times, there's someone to count on.
Something to remember and not to just sit back and yawn.
The fear of being shut out scares each and every one of us,
Just remember that there's nothing more important than never forgetting to smile.
Through troubled times, we've had a few,
We would lay all night and wake to the morning dew,
With the rays of sun, comes a hope so true,
Comes the warmth of a new day across the sky, sparkling blue.

Things in life aren't always clear at first. That's why we have sayings like "sleep on it and get back to me." We must first be able to look at a situation as a whole and see it through, before acting on it. I find that we often see the silver lining of most situations...then continue to refer to that image when the going gets tough, when in reality, maybe it wasn't such a great idea.
After a while, we get tired of doing the same things over and over again. We need something new to "wake us up" and make us feel like we have more of a purpose in this world. Looking to dreams and hopes is enough in the moment, but reaching them is never easy. There are so many other factors that come into play once you try to go about doing something important. It's as if the universe doesn't want you to succeed.
But if at first you don't succeed, try, try again...it never hurts to do something over again when you don't get it right the first time. Thomas Edison tried a thousand different ways to create a lightbulb, yet he claims to have only found a thousand ways not to make a lightbulb. If more of us thought like this, I think that we would find ourselves saying that we found a million ways to get lost and find the scenic route, because nothing is ever perfect the first time. If today was perfect, there would be no point in having a tomorrow, because nothing would ever be able to measure up. We all like to have something to look forward to in life...it's why we try to reach perfection. So that someday, we're able to look back at all of our hard work and smile, knowing that we've come so far and have accomplished so much.
"Extraordinary things happen to extraordinary people" - Chronicles of Narnia. I don't think that you necessarily have to be extraordinary to have something special happen to you. You just have to be willing enough to let something special change you in a way for the better. One of my good friends once said "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. But when life hands you an opportunity, make a difference." This statement couldn't be more accurate to how we should all live our lives. If we don't truly take advantage of everything that is offered to us, there would be a lot of questioning going on of what could have been.

In life, nothing ever comes easy. You have to work until you have earned what you want. There're a lot of people in this world that miss out on opportunities because the aren't willing to work hard enough for it. I think many of the reasons that stop us from achieving something are the "what if" factors. A common one would be "what if it doesn't work out?" You'll never know unless you take the risk and find out for yourself.
At times, it will seem like there's no hope left for you. We all hit rock bottom sooner or later. But nothing can get better before it first gets worse. The beauty of it all is never knowing when these moments will come about and figuring out how to deal with them. It's not always easy, but we have to remember that it's okay to ask for help, to pause and think for a while, and to wonder why...but we should never give up on anything. I think that Nora Roberts says it best..."If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place."

When we travel, we often send postcards to our friends that have a few photos or words about the place that we're visiting. Maybe it's to brag a little bit about the fact that we're somewhere cool and our friends are stuck at home...but at least we're kind enough to think of them, and we wish that they were with us in our travels.
Sending a postcard and taking pictures of somewhere that you travel to is never the same as actually being somewhere. You'll never be able to convey the feelings, sights, smells, and sounds of the moment and the time; however, it's always nice to try. It's fun to have someone to share the important and exciting moments of life with. As much as we'd like to take all of our friends and family everywhere with us so that they can experience everything in the same way that we're able to, it just isn't possible. The stories, photos, souvenirs, and postcards are the only real things that can compare to what actually was.
