Sometimes we don't see a good thing until it's gone. In a moment, everything can change. I think that we often take what we have for granted. The little things in life that bring us much joy...nothing is ever permanent. We must learn to love what we have for the little time that it's ours and then be able to let go when it leaves us in a flash.
As humans, we attach ourselves to little things that are seemingly unimportant to others. For all the dumb reasons that we cling to memories, pieces of paper, places, and moments in time, they're all temporary. While the memory will still last, it will remain beyond grasp...available for someone else to enjoy. There's plenty of experiences in the world to go around, I just think that we should learn to share what we have and appreciate it while it's ours. It could be gone in a blink.
Welcome to my blog! Feel free to follow, comment, etc. I try to post as often as possible, yet life still manages to get the best of me and I sometimes have a hard time posting as often as I'd like to. Many times in life, we feel like there's part of us missing, as if we're essentially broken. There are lots of things along the road of life that will knock us down and take parts of us away that seem irreplaceable. I think that the things we lose are parts that were given by mistake. Part of the journey of life would be to venture to find these parts that will fit the voids, and fill the emptiness. Nothing will ever be a completely perfect fit, but that doesn't stop us from trying to fit a triangle into a square. You can find all kinds of things in life that will seem to fit the space that's empty, yet it takes a few tries to get it perfect. Nothing goes right on the first try, that would make things too easy. There should always be a challenge. If you're not challenged, then what you get isn't deserved. I believe that you should have to earn something in order to receive it. And when that happens, everything will fall into place perfectly.

We always feel like we have to be involved in something bigger than we are in order to feel important and noticed. Everyone wants to be recognized, but it's not possible for the world to know everyone's name...it becomes so complex to where no one would be as unique as they are right now. Being a part of something bigger doesn't make you that much better. For a little while it's a good outlet for you to grow and learn, get a feel for what the bigger picture might be like, but it's not somewhere where you would want to stay. Too long in one area and things start to get clouded.
I think that if we're able to stay under the radar and do our own thing, eventually we'll come out on top. Above the others and soaring at a place much higher than the rest of the world. We'll be at the place that we've always dreamed of being at, the place where we're happy and at peace. Working hard for the things that we want isn't always easy...it would be so much simpler to get ahead with a short-cut early on rather than wait until a later date. No one has enough patience. Good things come to those who wait.

In life, there are different ways of seeing things. Many of us see just the black and white. Something is either right or wrong, there's no in between...no grey space. I think that there's more grey space in the world than there is black and white. We all think that there is a right and wrong answer to everything. If that is so, why do we have says that tell us to reach for the stars, that nothing is impossible? Because the rights and wrongs shouldn't limit us and out actions or imaginations. It's the grey spaces that allow us to make mistakes, prevent us from thinking inside of the box, and explore new things. Being able to learn new things is one of the most important aspects of life. Without knowledge, we would be nothing...incapable of expansion and growth. Not aware that there is so much to be gained from the world around us. If we let the people of the world limit us to things that they think are right and wrong, then we are living a sad and sheltered lifestyle: one that's in need of help. Live colorfully and don't worry about defining the edges, it's only the content of the picture that counts.

Being happy just to be happy isn't always a bad thing. It can be good...it can be infectious. People always tell me to be happier, but I don't want to walk around and look like Barbie all the time, I keep my smiles and laughs at a minimum, only when I need them do others see them. It's like learning to use things wisely, not irrationally. I don't believe in using things like they're going out of style. When you're in the giggly mood, laugh until your sides ache, when you're smiling, smile until your cheeks can't take anymore pain, and when you love, love until there's nothing left to love. We don't make moments, the moments help define us and make us into something more, something that we could never be able to achieve without it.

I find that it's better to sit back and watch things unfold in life. When you're in the middle of it all, you can't truly be able to see everything that's happening. When you sit a distance away from the action, it's easier to pick out certain things, recognize, and remember everything better than seeing it up close. Seeing the bigger picture...something that not a lot of people specialize in. We see what we want to see and then are done absorbing all else around us. I think that we should be able to keep ourselves open to the world around us and the many gifts and opportunities that it brings our way.

When things don't work out in life I resort to a few reasons that always make me wonder a little: 1) I don't want something enough to have it, 2) I don't deserve it, 3) I haven't worked hard enough for something yet, or 4) It's just not meant to be. We don't like to consider any of these options...we're programmed to think for ourselves and when we don't get our way, naturally it upsets us. We just have to be able to deal with it and know that maybe someday, something better will come that will make up for all that we've lost. You don't always have to be part of something in order to feel important or like you're something more. Everyone will get what's coming to them eventually in life. If it's not now or tomorrow, it might be the day after...or a few days after that, or a few days after that. You get my point. No matter what it is in life that we wish for, someday, if we work hard enough and keep wishing for it, if we truly deserve it, we will achieve it. That's the best reward ever and it will definitely make up for everything else that has gone wrong in life for you.

Life never stops for you to be able to catch up. We have to always be able to know how to pick ourselves up and keep going as if nothing is wrong. Maybe that's the trick though, to make it so that everything goes the right way and then we don't have to worry about falling behind. I try to constantly think of new ways to make life interesting and fun. I can't stand to live with the same routine every single day. I get so bored so easily. I like to keep things moving and try something new everyday...learn something that I never knew. Once we try something different than what we're used to, we're forced to go in a new direction that we didn't necessarily plan for. I think that's the beauty of situations such as those...you find out what you're good at and what you can't quite master today, and try again tomorrow or go somewhere totally new.

Everyone says "stop wishing and start doing." I think we spend too much time in our lives sitting around waiting for something to happen. Why not get out in the world and make it happen? Because we're scared of rejection, afraid of what others will think of us, and not sure of what to do most of the time? In order to overcome our fears we have to be able to try new things...you have to work at something in order to get better at it. We will never be able to master everything that the world has to offer, but it's all at least worth a shot. You will never know until you try. I don't see a negative to any opportunity in life. There's nothing to lose when trying something new. You can choose to learn from it or decide that you're "too cool" to try something and miss out on the chance that could be once in a lifetime. I've missed my fair share of opportunities in life and looking back, I think I could've learned a lot from them. Now, there's nothing that can stop me from trying something new and experiencing everything possible every single day. If you live with no regrets, life will turn out to be a lot brighter than you would've ever expected.

Age is just a number. When we're younger we think it defines us, but it's really something that I think helps us keep track of the time. Something that reminds us of how long it's really been since something has happened. People always remind each other of how "old" we all are...it's not very nice. Someday, hopefully they will have someone constantly reminding them of their age. Time goes by so fast, so why does it matter if you're 18 or 81, we're all entitled to a wonderful life and some awesome memories. It's never too late for anything to happen.

Being with the people that are important to you is something that we all need every once in a while in our lives. It's seemingly a necessity to know and be told that we're loved, that we're special, and that we are something to be proud of. The flaws of everyday life seem to tear us down little by little until it becomes unbearable. That's when we turn to those who love us most and seek acceptance and kindness. Although family might not always be our first choice of people to hang out with, they're sure a bunch that are guaranteed to make you laugh, feel loved, and welcome you home when no one else will.
Family means that no one gets left behind or forgotten, that we all look out for each other. Something that friends try to master, but still haven't quite gotten the hang of. No one knows us better than our family, next to ourselves. They are the people that we spend every single day with, share so many memories with. How is it that people can so easily discount them? I am sure appreciative of the loving, happy family that I was blessed to be born into. I don't see how anyone could say that they're not lucky when they have a constant source of love and understanding that will never fail.

"Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you will land among the stars." As a younger kid, I used to hear and see this phrase quite often. There were also the people that were there to tell you that there's such a thing as aiming too high and dreaming of what can never be instead of thinking of realities. To those people I have nothing to say. I only feel bad for them. They will never have the courage or the strength to achieve what others will always be striving for. I always like to put my best foot forward and strive to be the best that I can be in every possible way. I don't like to take anything less because I know that it won't give me the tools that I need to get to the next steps in my life. It's always good to have a back-up plan too, because things always, without fail, go wrong in some way. Either way, everything will work out for the better in the end if you always are sure to work hard, look forward, and keep smiling.

If light travels faster than sound, is that why some people appear bright before they speak? It sure seems like most of the world operates in this way. No one seems to care about the reaction to every action. Creating a mess makes it harder to navigate the choppy seas of the world and not a lot of people are willing to throw a life line when most of it's singed. Many people don't realize the damage until it's too late, then there's no where to go. It's really too bad that people act and speak before their brain filter has time to kick in. Some people really never learn because they themselves really don't know. Learning never comes without experience...if you haven't experienced it, then you don't know it. It's so simple, yet lots of people can't quite figure it out.
For every person that has ever said that someone couldn't make it, that someone wasn't good enough, that someone was a basket case, I hope you prove them wrong. There is so much unseen talent in this world it's no wonder reality TV shows are such a hit...because real people that have been covered by the dirt of others have been unearthed and been given their chance. While life will never be fair, we all learn everything at a different time in our life. It's up to us to react to it in a way that will only make ourselves better and leave the others baffled in the dust.

Actions always speak louder than words. Not many people are able to fathom that, but it's true. People judge others by their actions. Words can be the icing on the cake and can be fake, but the actions are what's real. It's walking the walk after talking the talk. No matter what you do, someone is always watching. I hear the quote "your true character is who you are when no one is watching" so much that it's been ingrained in my head. It's so true though. Many people can be two-faced, but those that are consistent with the world are the best to be around and have the best character. Silence is golden but yet so fragile. People think that in order to really know someone you need to have a lot of conversation...I don't think this is the case. People can say a lot of things. Sticks and stones can break your bones, and words will always hurt you. Contrary to popular belief, feelings are as big a part of you as your bones are. They're as easily broken with words as bones are with a stone. That is something that we all so easily forget. We are programmed to think "I" - "me" instead of "you" - "them." It's so easy to discount others' feelings and strive to improve your own. Instead of always asking what you can do to help yourself, maybe it'd be a good change for the better to see what you can do to help others. You know what they say.."what goes around comes around."

Hold my hand and guide me through,
Life's twists and turns make sense to no one but you.
When the storms rolled in and poured down rain,
You held me close under an umbrella, so plain.
Throughout my life you've been nothing but kind,
Thanks for always reminding me that you're forever mine.
There are so many things that we've yet to do,
I remember we'd watch Mr. Freeze-Miser and hear about Christmases that are blue.
Remember the time when we made grilled cheese?
We burned it and laughed, giving each other a tight squeeze.
Back then it was hard to see how careful you were,
Looking back on all those years makes it seem like such a blur.
Please don't let go, I'm afraid I'll get lost.
Scared of crossing a line that ends up with a cost.
I know you don't always notice how much I need you,
I'm sure you'll realize it when I'll call you daily from the Zou.
Someday we can look back and remember good times.
Smiling and laughing at all the funny lines.
Please hold my hand and guide me through,
There's no one else I'd rather share the view with than someone as great as you.

The happiest people in the world don't have the best of everything. We always complain that our lives aren't the best that they could be. We are constantly wishing for something more but are never satisfied with it. The people that make the best of everything are the ones that we should look up to, the ones that we should aspire to be like...odds are that they're much happier and are better off. We spend so much time in our lives trying to impress everyone around us, getting people to like where we live, what we wear, how we speak, etc. I think that we should be more concerned about the lives that we lead and the types of people that we are and want to be.
In life, there will be many things that will take away the outer layers that we spend so long trying to build up...all that seemingly work for nothing in the end. Life isn't about what holds you together or any of the little things that many people think are highly important. Life is about what you put into it. It's about how you live life to the fullest. It's not about the outside, but the contents and fillings. People can build coverings the same way and we could all easily become the same. What makes us all truly different from each other is the fact that we each have something different to bring to the table. "The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who has the least."

Expect the unexpected. It's better to be prepared and feel safe rather than come up short and get stuck somewhere. In a moment, everything can change. The problem is that we never know when that moment will be. I find that something new happens everyday. No matter what we do to try and prevent something, to reroute our plans so that things will work out right, it never seems to unfold just quite right. Sometimes it may seem that we're fighting an uphill battle, that no matter what we do, nothing will ever go the way that we plan. I still have yet to find a way to get everything to go the way I want...I have come to the conclusion that that will never happen. It's funny how life works that way. I find it somewhat enjoyable at times because it can provide for some good laughs, alternate plans that can make a huge difference, and will end up working things out for the better.
Expect the unexpected. It's better to be prepared and feel safe rather than come up short and get stuck somewhere. In a moment, everything can change. The problem is that we never know when that moment will be. I find that something new happens everyday. It's important in our lives to be recognized...to be told that we're doing the best that we're capable of. I've learned that many people in this world take everyone else for granted. They think that others get in their way, drag them down, or even discourage them. These are all true statements, but I think that it's how we view these things that makes the difference. I see each of these things as an opportunity. An opportunity to increase your drive for something...to become better. If you truly care about something, there shouldn't be a single reason in the world that would stop you or discourage you in the least. Throughout my life, specifically my high school career, there have been many moments and people that have tried to slow me down and discourage me. Among the many things I've learned from this, the most important to me is the knowledge that good things come to those who wait. Everyone gets to have a high point in their life...if everyone else wants to have it now in high school, be my guest. I would much rather have the time of my life doing something that I love with my job out in the real world. When it counts.

I live in a world that knows no fear,
You live in a world that holds nothing dear.
I see the sparkle and shine in your eyes,
You show me darkness and cloud up the skies.
When all hope seems lost, we hold onto each other,
How much nicer it'd be, seeing you as a brother.
But when the lights go out and the stars all fade,
That empowering feeling seems to become afraid.
We back down on things we've said we'd do,
Promising each other that the sky isn't blue.
Please listen to me, just a few more words,
Time is fleeing as fast as the birds.
When the time runs out, I don't know what I'll do,
I've sat around so long and thought only for you.
I live in a world where I don't have a name,
You live laughing and smiling...bringing on the rain.
The cold droplets hit and are burning my skin,
Your words are like ice, they keep tearing me thin.
You live in a world that refuses to remember,
My heart tied to yours, you found it so easy to sever.
Tell me, where do you hide when you find out you're wrong?
You can hear my thoughts in every verse of a song.
When there's finally no more and there's nothing to be done,
It would be nice to sit back and just stare at the sun.
I live in a world that demands a second chance,
Please never forget you still owe me one last dance.
You live in a world that is thoughtful and silent,
Each second we stare seems more and more violent.
For all I want is to be friends with you,
But you keep telling me what I know isn't true.
I can see now we live in not one world but two,
And in yours the sky is definitely far from blue.

Reality is such a harsh place in which to reside. I think that's why dreaming was created...as an escape from the mistakes, horrors, and tragedies of life. Dreaming is a state where fears, problems, and everything bad is eliminated. It's a place that I wish I could visit and live in more often than I normally do. It's a place where everything is okay, people are kind and thoughtful, and things always end up working out for the better. It's reality that scares us into these remote "hiding places"...sticking us every day with a new problem, something else that gets under our skin and presses our buttons. Yet, we have to face it sooner or later and be able to deal with it and move on. There is a good side to reality somewhere...I just haven't quite found it yet. I sometimes try to transfer my dreams to the real world. For some reason, they don't always seem to apply very well. The impossible always takes place...or people who are capable of something in reality are at a loss for it in my dream. I wish I knew how to fix my problems, how to make everyone happy...I would feel more confident that not everyone in this world is out to get you and knock you off-track.
We all should at least deserve one thing that is good, pure, and beautiful in our lives. Something that is the rock when we're as wobbly as a noodle, the dream that is able to be transferred to real life. When we fall, it's not too often that we see a hand extended to us for our help. While some people would push it aside and try to get back up on their own, I think it's always wise to get help from whoever is willing enough to give it...it's not often that you find genuine people that probably live in the same world of thinking as you do.

Procrastination...I'm pretty sure that we all suffer from it. At one point or another in our lives, it seems silly to try hard to get something done in advance. I find that we all wait until the last minute to do everything from something small to a big project or paper that's due the next morning. But wow, you can really be amazed if you are able to have enough determination to finish something under a time crunch. I've learned that while it's really stressful, I'm able to complete things that have a good quality to them. The only thing that lacks is the thought. Many times we have good intentions of getting things done in a timely manner, however I think that when push comes to shove, we leave out the most important things and just make sure that the appearance is stellar. We should be building from the inside out instead and leave the outside unfinished...as everything in this world is.

Is seeing believing or is believing seeing? Do we trust too easily? There are so many things in this world that point to so many different answers, it's hard to land on just one and stick with it. We're often swayed by other people's opinions and forget why we stick with our original choices. Our instinct is the smartest reasoning that we have. Our only problem is that we don't always trust our gut emotions. I think that we should be able to believe and say what we believe and feel and not have other people pull us off our own course of imagination or reality.

Throughout life I think we all leave paths of where we've been. Sometimes it can be obvious and other times it's harder to pinpoint. Depending on how much of an impact we make on other people determines how much we're remembered somewhere with someone. I think that we're all able to leave something behind us that is memorable that is able to stand up to the tests of time. It's the whole purpose of making first impressions...lasting, so you're remembered.
We always try to make everything perfect on the first try, scared that something will go wrong and that it will be forever remembered as a failure. I don't think that every mistake should always be viewed as a fluke though, when the lightbulb was created, Thomas Edison stated that he didn't fail, he simply executed the 1,001 steps to making one. I think that we should be excited to try new things instead of always being afraid to fall down. You don't learn and get better without a few bruises. In the end, you're able to better remember the places you've been and know that you left a little piece of yourself behind for someone else to remember.

There are many times in our life where we become extremely bored. Either there's nothing to do or we just are suddenly tired with the current task at hand. While some may see it as a way of relaxing, I think that it's annoying to become bored because then I feel so unproductive. Time seems to be spent much more effectively when you're doing something. While it tends to seemingly "fly by" when you're having fun or doing something that is in fact time consuming, when you're doing nothing, time can drag on forever and it will seem like an eternity before 5 minutes has passed. I just can't stand to live my life sitting around waiting for something to happen. I have to go out there and make something happen on my own, otherwise how am I supposed to know if anything will in fact come about or not?
Some people are scared of things in the world and they will spend a majority of their life hiding...just waiting for someone to pull them out and tell them that it's okay, to show them all the wonderful things that are up for the taking in the world. It's hard to reach for something and wish for things when you have no idea that they exist. That's half the fun in working towards something probably. Knowing that it's a difficult task, but being able to set your mind to it and accomplish it is one of the best feelings in the world.
We don't often see the things that are right in front of us. We're always striving ahead to something bigger and better. Looking for the greener grass on the other side of the fence. If we just take a second to pause and realize that we have everything that we need, that there's a lot that we should be doing to help us get to where we really want to be, I think we might be a little more at ease. More people would end up in places that they love doing something that they love with the people that they love. Just the way that life should be.

I still have yet to understand why we can go for so long without taking time to just breathe. We get so wound up in everyday activities that we will go until someone tells us that the end is upon us, that we're done...then we inevitably crash. I wonder if it's out of sheer determination that we are able to keep ourselves up and running for so long. It shows who's the strongest to continue to the ever changing finish line.
Sometimes, it seems like we're not able to continue forward...that we have given everything that we have and then there's nothing left to give. I don't think that this is ever the case. Unless we're taking our final breaths, we always give 100% if we truly care about it. There should never be a doubt in anyone's mind that way. At times, it may not seem like we try our hardest for something, but still there is the fear of losing and regret. I often find that I almost always give 100% or more in the things that I do. I don't want to have to look back and think about the "what if."
A little determination can go a long way if you really try. If you set your mind to something, anything is possible. It's overcoming the obstacles in the way between you and the finish that mess with your mind to think that you can't do something. In the end, we often don't remember all the things that we had to accomplish in order to get to where we are. We remember the things that helped to change us into the better person that we are today.

I think it's quite important to have a bucket list for your life. On it should be things that make your heart race, make you laugh, and things that could possibly make you hold your breath out of fear. It's these things that are so cool to us, yet we can't quite conjure up the right amount of courage to do them until the right moment comes along. I tend to just throw things on my list as if they're going out of style whether or not they're realistic. Some of the items aren't scary at all such as visiting every country in the world. Other items seem totally unreachable, like flying in a Blue Angel. While they may not all seem possible, it's nice to think that someday it will be and that I will have the opportunity to check everything off my list.
Although I should probably keep my list written down somewhere, I like to keep it locked away in the privacy and safety of my own mind. It's as if I don't want anyone to take my ideas or my whole list. While writing them down could help me remember more of them, at the rate I add things it would be somewhat pointless to keep a written list. I find that trying to remember all of the insane and crazy things that I need to do with my life is much easier because I can add so much more as I find new, exciting things. I have no need to ever cross anything off the list, I should rather be keeping a collection of the items that I have completed. Documentation is so important. When it comes to trying to remember things such as that, I am all over it. I think that the main reason we do certain things in life is for the memory of it. The bragging rights to say "yeah I did that!" Life is more fun and complicated that way...maybe even making it more livable.

Sometime in everyone's life you should get the chance to be a tourist in your own city. Drive around and be lost for a while, see if any famous people live in the area and stalk out their houses for fun, and maybe go get a few souvenirs. There's got to be some reason why tourists come and visit these places...they're cool! Learning something new about the place that you live can be fun, regardless of the boring tours that you often see. I take my own tour and it's so much fun. Lots of people don't get the chance to get out and learn interesting things about where they live or see the cool sights that everyone always talks about or that your city is known for. We always say that we need a vacation, but when you see all the amazing things that you have around you to begin with, maybe a vacation somewhere far away is less needed. Discover where you are first, then reach out to other places.
Maybe staying in your own city for a vacation wouldn't be a great idea because you need a change of scenery and a new group of people to talk with. Yet, I think that while that's a viable reason to leave, we end up taking the places we see everyday for granted. We start to let things go unnoticed that are funny and out of the blue. Maybe it's good for us that people from out of town come to visit...they force us to leave the everyday rut that we're constantly stuck in and branch out to see and discover more.

Most of the time, I find myself waiting for the opportune moment to say something. Maybe we spend a good portion of our lives waiting for the right moment instead of just taking the risk and hoping for the best. I heard a quote once, it said "You must take the moment and make it perfect." Granted, that sounds really cheesy, but I think that there's a lot of truth to it. If we wait around forever trying to hope that the situation will be perfect for something, we might not get the chance...we'll be wondering "what if?" for a while. If we spend our whole life waiting for something, there are so many opportunities that can be missed and lost, people that we will never have had the chance to have met, and things that will be left unsaid. "Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all."

Things don't always work out the way that you plan them to. While we try to figure out everything beforehand, there's always something that seems to go awry as it all unfolds. The timing will be off, there are pieces missing, or we forget about certain aspects of the issue that we had never thought of before. This can become quite problematic. No matter what happens though, we have to be able to just smile and deal with the cards that we're dealt. Learning to handle twists and turns in life, such as these, help us to become a better person and to figure out what not to do under pressure. A good characteristic to have in life is being able to keep your cool when things get hot.

31 March and 1 April 2012
We are all so easily tricked. Even if you don't like to admit it, it's true. In one way or another, we will all fall for some stupid little prank. It's not fair! Why can't we just see the falsehood in the "evil" yet caring smiles of our friends as they trick us and laugh at us on this unlucky day. Who created April Fool's Day anyway? It's just one of the many other holidays that don't really seem to have much purpose. Let's be real...in a child's mind, ANY day is a great day to prank someone. There are lots of truly terrible, mean things that can be orchestrated on April Fool's Day.
Granted, my family loves each other enough that we're not THAT creative with our pranks. We usually leave the tricking to my dad and little brother...who always end up having a good laugh. Short-sheeting the bed, switching the cereals, reciting harmful jokes are all things that I can manage. When it comes to Saran wrapping the toilet seat, interchanging the salt for sugar, and hiding all your desktop icons on the computer, it becomes a whole new game. Why do we often find humor in other people's losses, faults, and falls? We laugh hysterically until we figure out that something is actually wrong, in which case we then feel terrible. But still laugh anyways. At the end of the day though, how do we feel about all the pranks? While it's all fun and games on our end, I don't think we really planned to see what our friends and family think of us after we have a good laugh and embarrass them. I guess it just becomes a good excuse to black mail us or to humiliate us another day when we least expect it.

While it's all fun and games on our end, I don't think we really planned to see what our friends and family think of us after we have a good laugh and embarrass them. I guess it just becomes a good excuse to black mail us or to humiliate us another day when we least expect it.
