23 October 2011
Dust settles and time goes on,
The minute hand crawls slowly along.
Memories fade and instances lost,
Such a funny thing, how much to us they seem to cost.

When it's all said and done and there's no one left,
To whom did you give your very best?
The smiles and the laughter,
All the jokes and playful banter,
Do the pictures last as long as you think,
Or do the sun rays fade out the bold colored ink?

The raindrops streak down the window there,
As colors fly wildly through the air.
So little we notice in our short time here,
So much that there is left to fear.

When darkness falls and the stars shine bright,
I think of happy times and close my eyes tight.
May the sadness and hurt be washed away,
And the dust be blown aside, to help show us the way.
