2 September 2011
Water is such a wonderful thing. It's used for everything, is found everywhere, and is useful to so many people everyday. After standing outside, running around at practice, and sweating through all the humidity, a nice, cold glass of water is probably the best thing to make you feel better. Although, appreciation is key, I believe. Is it just me that thinks that a simple "thank you" is expected when you help someone out? I was raised under the rules of always saying "please" and "thank you" when someone did something nice for you. After standing on the sidelines at a football game, I can see that I am probably in the minority group of kids that still live by those rules today.
Along with appreciation, I think water is under appreciated. I'm not sure how much water we go through every day, but I'm sure it's quite a lot. Do we even really think about it? After running cross country, I'm always so excited to find something as simple as an ice cube to try and rehydrate myself. Or running through the rain...It's one of the best things because it cools you down and you can run faster. I never really thought about appreciating water so much until this week when the weather has forced me to go back to the sink more and more often to refill the water bottle.
Once again, we have another rainstorm, and the sound of the rain hitting the pavement is so beautiful. Even though summer is coming to an end, rain (to me) is the sign of life. I can't wait until the colors start changing and I can go jump in a big pile of leaves.
