To all of those people who tell us that money doesn't grow on trees...LIES! Well, okay, yes...it's true, money doesn't literally grow on trees, but depending on how you use what grows on them determines if they actually "grow" money or not.
Even though corn doesn't technically count as a tree, it's a plant nonetheless. Earlier this year, my family went and bought one package of popcorn seeds and planted them in the garden. Yesterday, we took so many cobs in from the garden and started plucking the kernels off of them. Today, I wondered if you stuck a cob in the microwave, if it would actually pop right off of it. Turns out that it does, so cool! and tasty...
My dad and I then came to the conclusion that you could take the kernels that you don't use, then plant them next year. You could also sell the seeds to others who want popcorn, and you don't have to worry about buying another package next year when planting season rolls around. Maybe it's too thrifty, but I think that stuff like this makes sense if you want to save anything at all. You have to start somewhere, and starting small is probably the best place to begin.
