12 February 2012
We all want to be protected from many things in life. Our parents tell us what to do and look after us so that we don't stray, we go through security at airports so that we're safe, and we wear seat belts during car rides. Then, in the snow we wear snow-pants, boots, gloves and such. Today, when sledding, I decided to wear sunglasses with my attire, I personally think it gave the whole outfit a sophisticated look. I do believe that there's an extent to protection though. You can't always be protected from everything in life, though it's nice to always try to feel safe.
When I ride in the car, there are 3 things that always happen. I listen to music, wear my seat-belt, and I wear my sunglasses. Sunglasses are a great invention...they protect your eyes from the sun and make it so that it's easier for you to see, but harder for others to see your own eyes. Tonight while I was watching the Grammy's, I couldn't help but notice that many stars were wearing them. I'm not sure about you, but I know that it bothers me when I can't see people's eyes when I'm talking to them. There's always some feeling of mis-trust. While sunglasses look stylish and help block the sun, I think there's a line when conversation is begun. As for all the many stars at the Grammy's that wore sunglasses, aren't you inside? Maybe it's a new trending look, but I would think it'd make it pretty hard to see. With the beautiful light displays and pretty dresses to admire, why is there a need? I think the only protection here should be at the edge of the stage when their vision fails them and then fall off the edge.
