There are many things that help make up who you are...the little quirky habits that keep you stitched together and functioning. Without these things, we would cease to be successful individuals. There are only a few things in this world that people can take away from you, your personality is something that I think is awfully difficult to alter or replace.
We are often told to protect ourselves before opening up to someone, for fear that they won't accept us for who we are. That our "true colors" will seemingly "clash" with someone else's and there will be feelings hurt. I think this is why we often perceive the world as such a scary place. We all tend to look at people as a threat first before we try to make ties with them. Imagine how much easier communicating would be if people were more kind to others. I don't think that a lot of people like to admit these types of things...they're too worried about who will be out to get who in the world. Fact is, however, that people will generally treat you as they are treated. We all must learn to cope with the stitches of the world and be able to tie together the fraying ends to help fix the problems that are common in all of us.
