Something that I miss in modern day media, would be true talent. Granted there are those really good actors and actresses in all your favorite movies. Then you have the occasional singers. But it's when you go and pay good money to see a show that the talent usually lacks.
Most people today that wander around in the spotlight don't really have much talent beyond what auto-tune, some make-up artists, and a few colored lights can give them. Being able to listen to someone sing a good song without the help of a computer is true music to probably anyone's ears.
It's amazing how the music industry, or fame generally, has gone down in standards. All people are looking for now is someone to look to for fashion or the latest gossip. Don't you have your own lives to worry about instead of sitting watching the latest reality TV show?
People I think have their priorities mixed up with this issue. To me, fame is for people who have something special that no one else has. Today, people can be put in the spotlight just on the size of their wallet...which is sad, yet I'm told, and have unfortunately come to find out, that this is how the world operates. It's not about what you know anymore, it's who you know. If you think about it, it's true, yet it's only beneficial to those people in the world that actually do know something, otherwise you're down the drain for really great opportunities.
It bothers me how Hollywood pushes fame on the younger generations. Granted, the teenage dream is to live a life of fame, but I don't think that that career should be taking off when you're under the age of 15. A watched pot never boils, and if you want real talent, you have to wait to find it. In the meantime you might find a few diamonds in the rough along the way.
