The fear of the unknown...but is it unknown if we don't know about it? Maybe yes, maybe no, both possibilities could be true.
One thing that scares me is forgetting something. Yes, you forget the point you're trying to make in the middle of trying to say a story, you forget the eggs at the store from your grocery list, and you forget to do your math assignment; but forgetting a true memory is what really frightens me. I think what bothers me about it is that once you forget it, how do you know that you forgot it? Little details can get lost that were probably very important to a funny, touching, or memorable experience.
It's kind of like silhouettes. Sometimes you can vaguely remember something, you just can't put your finger on what exactly it is. Yet it's still there. Other times, it's just a little lined figure on the horizon, so close to disappearing. But you're never able to tell what exactly these things are until the light comes out again or something specific sparks your memory to remember it.
