21 December 2011
Christmas lights are one of the many things that you can count on at Christmastime. Their glow radiates throughout the night filling the surrounding area with a crisp outline of nature, providing a minimal amount of light for you to find your way. Maybe we put up Christmas lights to resemble stars, like the one that was followed to reach baby Jesus on the night of his birth. Even though the lights are used to portray many different things, it's nice to think of them as little stars that are twinkling in the night.
My favorite types of lights to see are silver and blue ones. I don't particularly care for people who use every square inch of their lawn for a Christmas light, figurine, or sign...by then it seems too commercialized. I think that lining your house and putting lights on your tree is about enough to feel like you've contributed to the holiday cheer. Add in a little music and it's quite perfect...as the holiday season should be.
